practicum day at epcot

(Additional Registration and EPCOT Day Ticket Required)

EPCOT

This year, we are excited to announce an extra blessing! We have arranged a special practicum day with Steven Barr and John Kimball at EPCOT!

Many of the international cast member relationships Steven and Lucía Barr have made began around the World Showcase at EPCOT. One of the things Steven loves best is taking groups like ours into his "world" to experience what he does for Jesus' kingdom. Participants in this special day will have the opportunity to practice some of what they have learned in this year's Summit - holding strategic conversations, sharing stories, asking well-planned questions, gaining fresh perspectives, and learning innovative discipling tools developed in Cast Member Church -- all in Steven's ministry context!

The day will begin at Park Open (usually 9:00am) and will include digital materials and instructions from Steven for an incredible day of learning and ministry. There will be a lot to experience, including two meals together, and then you'll be turned loose to enjoy EPCOT after supper.

Speakers

Steven Barr HiRezSQ
Steven L. Barr
Keynote Speaker and Executive Director of Cast Member Church, Walt Disney World Resort
Orlando FL
Having planted a unique expression of Jesus' Church in one of the most challenging communities, Walt Disney World, Steven L. Barr has learned how to effectively share the love and gospel of Jesus among very suspicious and skeptical people. Steven is also a nationally recognized speaker, having spoken at Conferences around the country.

Steven and Lucía Barr are currently working with a team to establish a Cast Member Church presence among the cast members of Disneyland Paris.

John Kimball
Director of Church Development,
The Nehemiah Summit
Lead Pastor of Palmwood Church, Oviedo FL
Celebrating 36 years of pastoral ministry covering both local church and denominational contexts, John has worked with over 200 churches across the country in church development, revitalization, biblical peacemaking and disciple making to help them increase their kingdom focus and fruit.

John also serves as the Chaplain for the Oviedo YMCA, where he ministers among people from all walks of life. Palmwood Church is preparing to plant their first daughter church in the Titusville YMCA on Florida's Space Coast.
PJ 0822
Josiah
Josiah Kimball
Program Director, JSAW
Minneapolis MN
Growing up on a skateboard led Josiah into many different relationships. Little did he know that God was using those experiences to form him into a missionary to the action sports community. JSAW (Jesus-Snow-Asphalt-Water) exists to transform action sports culture through disciple-making. Most of those Josiah meets have no connection with Jesus or the Church. Overseeing programming for the ministry, Josiah skates, snowboards, mentors, speaks at conferences, leads bible studies and outreaches, and takes small groups on ministry trips around the world. Josiah also trains others on how to disciple riders through JSAW's programs.

Breakouts

Breakout sessions are designed to provide practical help on specific topics related to this year's Summit. Detailed descriptions and notes for each offering will be provided in the Nehemiah Summit Booklet, available at the registration table. We have also added a Roundtable Discussion to this year's schedule for further interaction with our practitioners.

Breakout Sessions

  • Reaching Your Specific Harvest Field's Diversity - Todd Venman
Using specific demographic data from our partners at MissionInsite, this breakout will help participants see their REAL harvest field, recommended ministries to reach them, and look for commonalities in the room to help them more effectively reach their communities.
  • Making Real Disciples of Youth - Josiah Kimball
Discussing the uniqueness of reaching today's youth with urban and suburban examples, this breakout provides insights to help local church leaders more effectively connect with younger Millennials and GenZ.
  • No Going Back - Ed Enstine
Responding to the dire need to move forward and realize that we cannot and should not try to recreate the pre-COVID Church, this breakout helps churches strategize fresh ways to reach people in today's very different world.
  • Church Without a Steeple - John Kimball
Expressing the critical need to get outside the walls of our churches and do ministry in the marketplace to reach people who will NOT come to events and programs in the church building, this breakout uses the speaker's experience of starting a church in a mall, and now doing fruitful ministry embedded in a YMCA to help participants catch a vision for ministry in "third places."

Roundtable Discussion

Participants have asked for more interaction with our Keynote Speaker and Church Development Team. This roundtable discussion is designed for just that purpose. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and learn about real-life applications of the topics in this year's Summit.
